Cockpit Country Hiking

Cockpit Country is the only true Jamaican natural jungle with karst limestone rocks & caves. There are a number of hidden trails that are worth hiking and your amazing guide Ramon and his crew will maintain a pace that is comfortable for you and your party. Jamaica Rainforest boast about having one of the worlds largest butterfly (Giant Swallowtail) and over 400 varieties of ferns and many species of endemic birds including the noisy parrots. Most of the hikes will take at least 3 hrs and will include a stop by a river where our guests can take a dip. A bush cooked lunch on a grill is optional.

Optional Tour

Beach Hike - This hike is pretty easy and will last approximately 1 and a 1/2 hour. The hike will take you through a old 17th century estate passing by ruins and a Great House. It goes mostly downhill through dry limestone forest with lots of allspice trees and many local species of birds. Upon reaching the coastal area the trail goes around a large salt pond with many migratory birds and if you're lucky you may even see some of the occasional flamingos that roost there. Plant lovers will see varieties of local orchids as well as bromeliads. You then end your hike at a large unspoilt beach that is also a sea turtle nesting site where sometimes we encounter hundreds of hatchlings heading for the water. The beach is absolutely beautiful where you can swim and frolic while a outdoor barbeque lunch is prepared for you.
